Unravelling the mysteries of the Universe through HPC and AI

Astronomical instrumentation

The ECLAT laboratory

The French joint laboratory ECLAT
(Extreme Computing Lab for Astronomical Telescopes) was launched in 2024 and
is led by Damien Gratadour (CNRS).

The project objective

ECLAT aims to be a centre of excellence in HPC and AI technologies and techniques for astronomical instrumentation. The laboratory brings together sixteen partner laboratories and teams around a common roadmap to strengthen research and development (R&D) collaboration.

Its goal is to play a key role in the development of SKAO by anticipating future needs for system upgrades and modernisation.
